Services

This is a mixed-billing practice. Fees and rebates depend on the nature of the services provided. Please note that this is not a bulk-billing practice.

  • The initial appointment involves an an in-depth assessment of your current concerns, history, and goals of therapy.

The session focuses on gathering information and relevant background information, including medical and psychological history. The extended appointment provides time to understand your background and the reasons for seeking support, allowing me to tailor therapy to best help you achieve your goals.

We may also discuss an initial plan for therapy and specific therapeutic approaches such as EMDR.

  • In a subsequent session, we build on the insights gained from the initial appointment and begin working toward your therapy goals. This may involve:

Reviewing Progress & Experiences: We discuss any reflections, changes, or challenges since the last session.

Exploring Key Themes: We deepen our understanding of your thoughts, emotions, and behaviours related to your concerns.

Developing & Practicing Strategies: Depending on your needs, we may introduce therapeutic techniques such as cognitive restructuring, mindfulness, behavioural strategies, or coping skills.

Processing Difficult Experiences: If applicable, we explore past experiences, emotional responses, or patterns that impact your well-being.

Adjusting the Treatment Plan: We refine our approach based on what is or isn’t working, ensuring therapy remains aligned with your goals.

Setting Intentions for the Next Session: We may outline strategies or reflections to work on between sessions to support ongoing progress.

Each session is tailored to your unique journey and what is important for you to focus on in the session.

Please note: Extended subsequent sessions (80 minutes) are also available on request to those wishing to discuss more extensive topics in one appointment or those engaged in therapies that may require longer sessions, such as EMDR.

  • ADHD/Autism assessments are avaliable on request. Overall assessment structure and fee is dependent on the assessment type and presenting concerns.

Medicare Rebates

Medicare rebates are available to eligible individuals. If you wish to access Medicare rebates, you will need to visit your doctor to discuss whether you would like to see a psychologist and what your concerns are at that time.

Once you have a Mental Health Treatment Plan, you will receive a Medicare rebate for appointments after this date. Individuals with a Mental Health Treatment Plan can receive a rebate of $96.65 per session for up to 10 individual sessions per calendar year.

You don’t need a Mental Health Treatment Plan to book an appointment, and you can discuss your eligibility for a plan at any stage in therapy.

Private Health Insurance

Clients are encouraged to check directly with their private health providers about eligibility for rebates on sessions with a psychologist. Psychology For Her cannot guarantee that sessions will be covered, as this depends on your selected provider and level of coverage.

Please note that you can only use your private health insurance or a Medicare rebate. You are unable to use both for one session.
